Day 01

Saturday 07 November 2015

Welcome on arrival and direct drive to Anuradhapura. Thereafter visit the historical sight at Anuradhapura. Overnight at Palm garden village – Anuradhapura.
ANURADHAPURA – Sri Lanka’s first capital, founded in the 5th century B.C. According to the Mahavansa, the ancient Sinhala chronicle, this city was a model of planning with precincts set aside for huntsmen, scavengers, and heretics as well as for foreigners. There were separate cemeteries for high and low castes, hostels and hospitals and a water supply was assured by the construction of ‘ tanks ‘ (reservoirs).

Day 02

Sunday 08 November 2015

After breakfast to Sigiriya and climb the Lions rock  proceed to Dambulla and check-in to hotel. Overnight at Amaya lake – Dambulla.
SIGIRIYA Climb the amazing rock of Sigiriya with its impregnable palace fortress built in  the fifth century and enjoy the breath-taking views over the once magnificent royal pool, the  throne, remains of the majestic palace, walk ways and garden. Sigiriya is a sixth century  fortress  perched on a 200 meter high rock and the most dramatic of Sri Lanka’s historic  sites.

 

Day 03

Monday 09 November 2015

After breakfast visit the cave temple at Dambulla. Overnight at Amaya lake – Dambulla.

DAMBULLA rock temple is a magnificent gallery of Buddha images and wall and ceiling paintings not  seen anywhere else in the Island. It is a complex of five cave temples with its  origin going back to the  first 01st century BC.

Day 04

Tuesday 10 November 2015

After breakfast proceed to Kandy via visiting a spice garden at Matale. In the evening visit the temple of the tooth and the botanical gardens at peradeniya. Overnight at Amaya hills hotel – Kandy.
KANDY – Whilst being the last independent kingdom of the Singhalese kings, it is the most important place of worship for the present day Buddhist as the sacred “Temple Of The Tooth Relic” is situated in Kandy. It is also termed as the most beautiful city of Sri Lanka due to its location, where the city is surrounded by hills with its picturesque lake built by the last king. Some of the highlights in the city are its devales, the oldest being the “Natha devale” belonging to the 14th century, the palace of the last king of Kandy, which are now the districts courts and the Archaeological museum.

Day 05

Wednesday 11 November 2015

After breakast visit the elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. Overnight at Amaya hills hotel – Kandy.

PINNAWALA is probably the only one of its’ kind and provides shelter to many elephants of all ages, found either abandoned as infants by their herds, or  those found wounded in the  jungles. The morning and afternoon feeding hours are the best times to visit the orphanage, followed by their two-hour long bath in the river across the road from the orphanage.

Thursday 12 November 2015

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara eliya, via visiting a tea plantation and tea factory. Overnight at Grand hotel – Nuwara eliya.

NUWARA ELIYA set in the heart of tea-country this beautiful town is where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne.  Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church and the famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia.  Situated 1890 meters above sea level, the air here is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of Colombo.  Close to Nuwara Eliya is Horton Plains, Sri Lanka’s highest and most isolated plateau. Nature lovers will revel in this wide, patnagrass covered plain, the haunt of many wild yet harmless animals and the home of many species of birds. Acres and acres of tea with its lush green foliage extend miles across the hills.  And no visit to the hill country is complete without a visit to a tea estate and the chance to purchase some of the world’s finest flavoured tea – our major export crop.

After breakfast to Bentota for your beach stay. Overnight at Bentota beach hotel – Bentota.

Day 08

Saturday 14 November 2015

Departure. As per the departure time you could visit Colombo city.

COLOMBO – The trade capital has long been the traditional gateway to the orient. Today, Colombo is a fascinating city with a happy blend of east & west, Past & Present with a charm of its own. The main seaport of Sri Lanka is in Colombo & adjoining it, is Pettah which is the local bazaar & trading area.
