Best of Kenya Safari (May 2016)

Start from Pune / Mumbai and reach Mumbai International airport in time for your check in. Travel to airport at your own expense.

Your flight of Kenya Airways departs from Mumbai at 0725 hours and reaches Nairobi at 1100 hours. Then you will be transferred to Nairobi city for lunch. After lunch visit Nairobi Museum and proceed to Safari Park Hotel. Dinner and dance show at Safari Park Hotel.

After breakfast drive to Samburu National Park. It is semi-arid region having exclusive wild life and bird life. You will reach for lunch. Post afternoon refreshments, proceed for evening game drive. Stay at Samburu lodge

Today you have morning and evening game drives. You can observe Samburu’s unusual wildlife with a lot of variety. Optional Samburu village visit is also possible. At end of the day, you’ll savor the quiet activity around the river. Stay at Samburu lodge

Check out after breakfast and drive south towards the equator to Ol Pajeta ranch.

Ol Pajeta luxurious tented camp is situated on the Equator. En-route you will visit Thomson fall and reach by lunch time. You can view a variety of animals coming to the water hole, situated in front of the tents. Post afternoon refreshments proceed for game drive. After breakfast start your journey for Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru itself boasts the most spectacular of all of Africa’s bird sights – enormous flocks of pastel pink flamingoes, as well as other bird species. Here you have wonderful opportunities for photography as masses of pink bodies glide above the reflection of blue water. Your afternoon game drive takes you through the lush green park that surrounds the lake. Stay at Lion’s Hill lodge

After breakfast you will start your journey to Kenya’s most famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Enroute you will visit Great Rift Valley view point.

The Masai Mara Reserve is Kenya’s most precious wildlife sanctuary. This is big Game country and long famed as one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of game. Plains game is found here in staggering numbers, which in turn supports a tremendous predator population. After lunch you will go for afternoon game drive. Stay at Keekorok Lodge

Today you have morning and evening game drive in Masai Mara. Here you have an opportunity to experience fascinating ‘Balloon Safari’ (Optional, at additional cost). In afternoon you can visit Masai village to see the tribe and their activities (Optional tour) The Masai Mara is the northern-most extremity of the great Serengeti ecosystem. Here, black rhino browse among dense thorn bushes and herds of giraffe and elephant roam the woodlands. Nestled under canvas, tonight you’ll dream of all the wonders of Africa. After breakfast start your return journey to Nairobi. Reach for lunch. After lunch proceed to visit the Giraffe Manor & then to airport for your return flight back home. Your flight KQ204 leaves at 2105 reaching next day at 0535 to Mumbai.

Day 08 – Thursday – 02 June 2016 (B)

After breakfast start your return journey to Nairobi. Reach for lunch. After lunch proceed to visit the Giraffe Manor & then to Eka Hotel or similar for overnight stay.

Those pax going to Victoria Falls will stay back in Nairobi. Dinner on your own.

After breakfast pack up and then transfer to airport for your flight to Livingstone. Your flight KQ 780 leaves Nairobi 1300 reaching Livingstone 1510. On arrival pick up and transfer to Zambezi Sun where you stay on bed and breakfast basis. Dinner on your own.

After breakfast you have the guided walking tour of the falls from Zambian side. Return to the hotel and proceed for helicopter ride. Evening you have the sunset cruise on Zambezi. Stay in Zambezi Sun on bed and breakfast basis.

Morning at leisure when you can visit the falls on your own, before, transfer to airport for flight KQ 780 leaving Livingstone at 1555 & reaching Nairobi at 2155. Your connecting flight KQ 210 leaves on 06 June from Nairobi at 0750 reaching Mumbai at 1620.

Day 11 – Sunday – 05 June 2016 (B)

Take flight SA 49 from Livingstone at 1300 and reach Johannesburg at 1440. After immigration proceed to domestic terminal for flight MN 131 departing at 1805& reaching Cape Town at 2015.

Pick up & transfer to hotel for overnight stay. Dinner on your own.

Overnight:  Strand Tower or similar on bed and breakfast basis

After breakfast start for full day tour visiting the beautiful city of Cape Town.

Start with visit of the famous Botanical Garden at Kirstenbosch. Then to Hout bay – once a fishing community, now a popular residential area with spectacular ocean view. From here board onto a cruise to Seal Island and stroll along mariners wharf.

Then proceed to visit the enchanting African (Jackass) penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Drive along the Cape Peninsula to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, which extends along 40km of coastline and leads to Cape Point, where some say the oceans meet. According to Sir Francis Drake “the fairest cape that we saw in the whole circumference of the globe”. Ascend to the point by funicular.

Overnight:  Strand Tower on bed and breakfast basis. Lunch and dinner on your own.

After breakfast visit to Table Mountain and then proceed to Stellenbosch. It is one of the most beautiful towns of South Africa and is also very famous for its award winning wines. It is the second-oldest and undoubtedly the most scenically attractive and historically preserved town in southern Africa.

You will tour through the winelands and visit one of the wine estates to see the process of wine making and tasting a few of them.

Overnight: Basse Provence on Bed & Breakfast Basis. Lunch and dinner on your own

Take early breakfast & start for Oudtshoorn via the scenic town of Worcester. The towns of Oudtshoorn and De Rust are in the Klein Karoo between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains. Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world.

You will visit the ostrich farm where you learn everything of the world’s biggest bird. You can also ride on an ostrich, shop from the curios and even taste its meat. Overnight:  De Denne Guest House on Bed, Breakfast & Dinner basis.

After breakfast visit the famous Cango Caves, a series of magnificent, glittering limestone caverns fashioned over millennia beneath the foothills of the Swartberg Range.

Proceed to Swarberg Pass from Oudtshoorn; which is a scenic drive through the Cango Valley. Visit Prince Albert; “The nothingness, the wide open spaces and the deafening stillness… balm for the soul at sunset.” … this is the magic of Prince Albert at the gateway to the Great Cango.

Later travel to Meiringspoort. The poort bears a tough history of floods and landslides amongst incredible hardships, yet engineers and road builders mastered the art of building a magnificent road through this awe-inspiring poort. Overnight:  De Denne Guest House on Bed, Breakfast & Dinner basis

After breakfast transfer to George airport for your flight MN 904 leaving George at 0900 flight reaches Johannesburg at 1100.

On reaching Johannesburg, those going back to India will have a short Gold Reef tour before transfer to airport for flight back home. Take KQ 765 departing at 0150on 12 June and reaching Nairobi at 0655. Take connecting flight KQ 210 at 0750 from Nairobi to Mumbai reaching at 1650

Day 18 – Saturday – 11 June 2016 (B)

On arriving in Johannesburg from George, transfer to Sun City. Check in at Cabanas and stay on bed and breakfast basis. Dinner on your own.

Morning safari in Pilanesburg and rest of the day at leisure in Sun City.

Morning at leisure & then transfer to Johannesburg airport for flight KQ 765 leaving on 14 June at 0150 and reaching Nairobi at 0655; take connecting flight KQ 210 leaving at 0750 and reaching at 1650 in Mumbai.
